EHS Professional Development

Our Approach

Black & Decker believes it is important to develop and enhance the skills of EHS professionals and operating personnel.

Policy and Practice

Professional development activities include:

a. Annual EHS Conference

Each year all EHS professional personnel, facility managers, and other interested personnel are invited to participate in a two-day conference.  During this conference, corporate staff and outside specialists discuss corporate policies and procedures, review legal and other changes, and provide training and information on a variety of EHS topics.  The conference includes both full group sessions and smaller break-out groups devoted to specific topics.  EHS personnel also use the opportunity to meet and learn from their counterparts at other facilities.

b. On-site Training

Corporate personnel travel to operating sites and can provide training in topics such as:
  • DOT compliance
  • RCRA LQG training
  • OSHA 10-hour training
  • Selected EHS topics

c. Facility directed training

  • Each facility has extensive EHS training programs to ensure all employees have all necessary or legally required environmental or safety training.
