In addition to communicating its environmental policy clearly, Black & Decker monitors the EHS activities at all of its operations worldwide. 

Policy and Practice

The company’s system of monitoring and assessment includes the following practices:

• Periodic corporate EHS assessments of each manufacturing and distribution site at least once every four years.  Larger facilities or those with greater potential EHS risks receive assessments more frequently.
• A facility self-assessment process through which each operating unit will complete and submit a formal self-assessment annually.
• A requirement for each facility to submit an annual report summarizing the quantity of all solid waste generated and where and how each waste stream is managed.
• A requirement for each facility to submit a monthly report summarizing any workplace accidents which have occurred.
