Our Approach
To support its commitment to environmental sustainability, Black & Decker participates in a number of environmental organizations. This allows us to take advantage of external expertise and influence environmental practices outside the company.
Policy and Practice
Black & Decker participates in several organizations:
a. World Environment Center (WEC)
The WEC is an independent, not-for-profit, non-advocacy organization established for the exchange of information and expertise among industry, government, non-governmental organizations, academia, and the community.
Black & Decker has been an active member of this leading international environmental organization for several years, and supports its mission. Black & Decker personnel have served on the WEC's Board of Directors and its International Environment Forum. Its website is www.wec.org.
b. CHWMEG
CHWMEG is an organization established by leading firms to conduct independent audits of companies that provide waste management and related services within the United States and Canada. Black & Decker actively participates in CHWMEG, and a company representative has served on the CHWMEG Board of Directors. Through the information provided by CHWMEG, member companies are able to evaluate providers of waste management services. Its website is www.chwmeg.org.
c. Other Organizations
Black & Decker's professional staff participates in:
- The Environmental Roundtable of the Manufacturers Alliance;
- The Business & Environmental Leadership Council;
