Workplace Safety

Our Approach

Black & Decker workplace safety is included in the scope of environmental management.  Under our policy, all facilities are expected to recognize and control safety hazards.

Policy and Practice

These objectives are accomplished through the use of good process and facility design, on-going training, and effective site-based and corporate oversight.  As part of the oversight process, each facility reports monthly on its workplace injuries and illnesses.  In addition, workplace safety is a prominent element in the EHS Assessment Process.  Following are graphs of incident rates at manufacturing and distribution facilities. The rates are defined and calculated using U.S. OSHA criteria.

Efforts at all facilities have contributed to the steady drop in both OSHA Recordable and Lost Time Incident Rates over the past 10 years.
